Today we’re going to talk about Google Drive tips and tricks that’ll make your life easier. I’m a fan of Google Drive and it’s one of the most used things at Emedia Hosting.
Google handles all of our emails and some benefits come with that, and one of them is a huge amount of Google Drive storage space. As a web designer, all of those image, audio, video and backup files we work with can be typically pretty big. We don’t have to worry about it. With Google Drive, we have plenty of space.
Google Drive tips and tricks to make your life easier
The first of our Google Drive tips is Google Drive allows you to back up and sync all of your files to any device. For example your PC, laptop, tablet and phone.
When I’m travelling I’ll use my laptop. In the office at my desk, I have a PC that’s my main work computer.
The good news is that all of the work files that I need access to are safely stored in Google Drive, so I have access to them no matter where I go and on any device.
Even if I don’t take my laptop, and I have my phone I can open up the Google Drive app and find any file I need to transfer.
The next thing on the list of Google Drive tips is pulling out images from Google Docs. You can do this by going to Download as Web Page, and, essentially, you will make the files smaller and so it’ll make it for better organisation.
Next on our list is you can colour coordinate your folders for tidy organisation. Colour coding can be a great way to organise things visually in your business. Google Drive gives you the ability to do that by allowing you to apply a colour to the folder in your Google Drive.
The next one is the Google Drive browser extension. You can install this on Chrome, and then any time you want to save something directly to your Google Drive, you can just click the button and it’ll save it to Google Drive, which is super handy.
So rather than having to download an attachment or a file and go into your downloads folder, and then open up Google, or put it in the Google Drive folder on your computer, you can just save directly to Google Drive through the extension. A great time saver.
Another extension that’s great is Google Drive has a save emails to Google Drive, and what it does is it will convert any email in your Gmail to a pdf format. And it’ll send it to the storage in your Google Drive, and that’s handy when you want to save a very important email that you want to keep separate and apart from your email application.
Yeah, and the last of our Google Drive tips is you can click Shift plus Z to organise files in Add To Your Drive. So it’ll add selected items to an additional folder, so just a quick little keyboard shortcut hack.
